Frequently Asked Questions on the cessation of SMS reminders and notices
We understand some patrons may still be receiving alerts through SMS, and we wish to encourage them tap on the NLB Mobile app as a one-stop portal for a fuller suite of services. Through the NLB Mobile App, they can find a host of library-related activities such as searching and browsing of NLB collections, borrowing books and other items, receive notices and reminders, and pay outstanding charges conveniently and securely.
NLB will stop its SMS notices and reminders (except OTP) from 6 February 2023.
Instances of when OTP will be triggered include when patrons want to use the Multimedia Stations for printing and surfing the Internet and when patrons want to retrieve and/or reset their myLibrary Usernames and passwords.
There are two key ways to receive notices and reminders:
- NLB Mobile app
- E-mail
(patrons would have registered their e-mail addresses when they sign up for their library membership and myLibrary username)
Our libraries are equipped with Wireless@SGx and is available to you free. Connect your personal devices to Wireless@SGx and download or update the app, read your email, or surf the Internet at no charge.
